The crowd surrounded the car he was in as the CBI moved him from the Alipore District & Session Court, shouting and pushing against it. Ghosh is being criticized for how the hospital handled the rape and murder of a doctor. He was arrested by the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch on September 2 for corruption and financial misconduct. On August 24, the Calcutta High Court ordered the CBI to investigate Ghosh, leading to an FIR against him. The court has given the CBI three weeks to report on the investigation, with a progress report due on September 17. On September 4, Ghosh also filed a petition with the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s decision to order the CBI probe. The murdered doctor was found on August 9.
