13 August,2023 05:17 PM ISTA high-mast national flag at Tango Top in Anantnag has been inaugurated by the J&K Police along with the district administration to honour the nationalistic sentiments of the people of Anantnag ahead of the Independence Day 2023. The high-mast national flag, which is visible up to 10 kms in all directions, would become a landmark of South Kashmir. Brig Amandeep Malhi, VSM, Cdr 1 Sect RR along with DIGP South Kashmir Range Rayees Mohammad Bhat, IPS, hoisted the flag. The work for the installation of the flag started with effect from June 2023. Given the history of South Kashmir, this Tricolour would be a symbol of unity and peace and would be referred to as “The Tricolour of Unity”.

The Canadian police authorities were present at the spot to keep the situation under control. In the wake of the recent mass protest outside the Indian Consulate in Canada by Khalistan supporters, the Indian community members raised questions against the Trudeau-led government’s approach towards these separatist groups. Notably, Khalistan supporters organised the “Khalistan Freedom Rally” in several parts of Canada, the US, the UK and Australia on July 8. Earlier also, several attacks at Indian diplomatic offices by pro-Khalistanis have been witnessed.

This is not the kind of India that will accept its national flag being pulled down by anyone. When this happened, our High Commissioner put up a bigger flag in that building. It was not only a statement to the so-called Khalistanis over there, it was also a statement to the British that this is my flag and if anyone tries to disrespect it, I will make it even bigger.”
