A day after the #Karnataka #HighCourt pronounced its verdict on the hijab ban, the schools and colleges reopened in #Udupi on Wednesday. Earlier on Tuesday, the Karnataka High Court dismissed all petitions filed by Muslim girls seeking permission to wear hijab in educational institutions and ruled that hijab does not form a part of essential religious practices in Islamic faith. After the HC pronounced its verdict, a Muslim student approached the #SupremeCourt against the order. Responding to the plea, the Supreme Court, on Wednesday, said that it will hear the petition after the #Holi holiday

A few days later, a video of a Muslim student went viral on social media, where she was seen being heckled by men outside a college in Karnataka. Even as the state shut down schools and colleges amid the outcry, violent protests broke out in other parts of the country as well.
