More than a year after the closure of the old Z Bridge, which connected Matunga station on Central Railway (CR) to Matunga Road station on Western Railway (WR), the bridge reopened today, March 1st, much to the relief of commuters and residents. The bridge had been in a poor state before its closure. This crucial east-west link was used by lakhs of officegoers, students, and locals. The area is home to several municipal schools, as well as colleges like Ruia, Ruparel, Khalsa, Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, and Welingkar. Additionally, it houses a vegetable and flower market and several temples.

On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi 2023, the Ganeshotsav festivities are in full swing in Mumbai. This Ganpati, touted as the richest Ganpati of Mumbai has been adorned with 69 kgs of gold and 336 kgs of silver this year. The GSB seva mandal has bought an insurance of Rs 360 Crores that covers the mandal, structure, public calamities, its volunteers, and jewelry adorned by the idol.
