A major 36-hour shutdown will take place on Central Railway this weekend. The mega block will be operated from 2 pm on January 8 (Saturday) to 2 am on January 10 (Monday) on Up and Down slow lines between Thane and Diva stations for carrying out work for Thane-Diva 5th& 6th lines. Here’s how the Mumbai local train services will be affected during the mega block.

A significant portion of the new Thane-Diva lines will be commissioned in early January but about 150 hours of rail blocks is required to complete the remaining portion of the project. As per the tentative schedule, six blocks of 18 hours, 24 hours, 36 hours, 14 hours, 8 hours and the final one of 72 hours have been planned.
