Many pilgrims and tourists are now stranded on the Sonprayag-Kedarnath road due to the severe weather. Cloudbursts, landslides and other natural disasters have affected Kedarnath Yatra Route. Search and rescue efforts are in full swing in Samej village, Shimla, after a severe cloudburst hit Himachal Pradesh. Since the night of July 31 to August 1, 36 people have been missing due to the Himachal cloudburst and subsequent flash floods that caused extensive damage. The army built a temporary footbridge to help rescue teams cross the river and reach affected areas. A cloudburst in the Samej Khad area of Rampur, Shimla, caused major disruption on 1st of August. Due to Himachal cloudburst, more than 50 people are missing, and two bodies have been recovered so far. The rescue operations in rain-battered Shimla entered day six on August 19. Joint rescue operations are underway by NDRF, SDRF, Indian Army and local people. So far, 16 bodies, among 20 people have been recovered from the Summer Hill area of Shimla. Over 70 people have lost their lives in the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh due to the deadly monsoon.
