The claim, drawn from a 2019 FBI summary, cites former Palm Beach Police Chief Michael Reiter, who reportedly described Trump reacting to the Epstein probe by saying, “Thank goodness you’re stopping him,” and referring to Ghislaine Maxwell as “evil.” Rather than directly confirming or denying whether the call occurred, Leavitt deflected the question. She instead repeated Trump’s long-standing defense, that he removed Epstein from Mar-a-Lago after learning of his behavior, avoiding any verification of the specific 2006 call referenced in the document.
