Hezbollah media chief Md Afif killed by IDF, confirms Hezbollah

Israel's military has killed Hezbollah's Media Chief, Mohammad Afif, after a strike in Beirut on November 17. Afif, who had close ties with Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and managed the group's Al-Manar TV station, was a key target for the IDF due to his role in Hezbollah's media operations. His death follows increased tensions, with Hezbollah launching nearly 200 rockets at Israeli border areas on November 11, in retaliation for Israel's actions during the ongoing conflict that began with Hamas' attack on October 7. Israel's military has stepped up its operations against Hezbollah, and Naim Qassem, a senior Hezbollah leader, may be the next target. The group has strongholds in southern Beirut, a key area for Hezbollah's influence.

The war in the Middle East has been ongoing for over a year, with the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) making significant strides against Hezbollah. Afif, a close associate of Hezbollah's former leader Nasrallah, managed the group's Al-Manar TV before heading its media relations. The IDF has intensified its operations after Hezbollah launched nearly 200 rockets into Israel on November 11, 2023, in retaliation for the Hamas attack on October 7. With many top Hezbollah commanders eliminated, the group’s leadership, now under Naim Qassem, is facing increased pressure, and he may be the next target for Israeli forces.
