He is facing stiff competition from Mahesh Sawant of Shiv Sena (UBT) and Sada Sarvankar of Shiv Sena, who won the seat in both 2014 and 2019. According to the latest data from the Election Commission, Amit Thackeray is falling behind both Sawant and Sarvankar in the race. Amit Thackeray, who is contesting his first Maharashtra assembly election, is part of the BJP-led Mahayuti coalition. 23 November,2024 03:15 PM ISTIn an encounter with the security forces, 10 Naxals were killed in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma. The encounter broke out between the DRG and Naxals. Chhattisgarh Deputy CM Vijay Sharma briefed about the encounter and said that 10 naxal bodies have been recovered. Earlier in the day, IG Sundarraj said that the exchange of fire had been underway since morning and a search operation was underway. Security forces were seen celebrating the major victory with a dance following the encounter.

Canada’s PM Trudeau had claimed that he has “credible allegations” of India’s hand in the killing of K-terrorist Hardeep Nijjar. Now taking a U-turn on the same, Ottawa has officially denied the reports of the Canada-based Newspaper that claimed India’s link in the K-terrorist Nijjar killing. The action came after India strongly objected to a report in Globe & Mail newspaper that drew a connection between Nijjar’s death to PM Modi. On Nov 20, India had strongly refuted the reports and said it should be dismissed with the “contempt they deserve”. The Ministry of External Affairs had emphasised that “smear campaigns” like this only “further damage our already strained ties”.
