Security forces in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, arrested three individuals within 24 hours following a grenade attack on a security camp in Hamray Pattan. Among those arrested was a surrendered former terrorist and the son of another. The authorities recovered significant items, including weapons, ammunition, and an AK rifle during the operation. One of the accused is also connected to a two-year-old narco-terrorism case, further complicating the investigation. The swift arrests and recoveries highlight the security forces’ ongoing efforts to curb militant activities in the region. An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Chak Tapper Kreeri Pattan area of Baramulla in J&K on Sept 14. The vulnerable areas have been cordoned off and a massive manhunt has been initiated across the district. Earlier on Sept 13, two army soldiers were killed in a gunfight with terrorists in the Kishtwar district. Notably, these scary developments are taking place ahead of J&K Assembly Polls 2024. Polling in J&K would be held in 3 phases starting from Sept 18, 25 & Oct 1; Counting of votes will take place on Oct 8, 2024.
