National Unity Day is celebrated on 31st Oct every year to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. Today marks the 148th birth anniversary of the ‘Iron Man of India’, Sardar Patel. PM Modi visited the Statue of Unity in Gujarat and paid floral tribute to the ‘Iron Man of India’. Flower petals were showered by choppers on Sardar Patel, the world's tallest statue of India. PM Modi also administered the 'National Unity Day' pledge to the public at Ekta Nagar in Gujarat. CRPF all-women bikers also received grand applause from PM Modi and the public at the National Unity Day parade.

The replay was given over the Congress leader’s allegations of Gujarat being a ‘drug capital’ during the state Assembly Elections. “Gujarat has become the centre of drugs. All drugs are moved from Mundra port but your government doesn't take any action. This is the Gujarat model. Gujarat is one state where you have to take permission before protesting; permission from those against whom protest will be done,” Rahul Gandhi said.

Statue of Unity becoming a major tourist destination. Miyawaki forest and Maze garden are the new attractions. PM Modi to dedicate Maze Garden at the Statue of Unity. Maze garden is one of the two new spots at the Statue of Unity. It has been developed in a short span of just eight months. The Garden has been built in the shape of ‘Yantra’ that emanates positive energy. As many as 1,80,000 saplings have been planted near this Maze Garden. Miyawaki Forest will be another tourist attraction for people visiting Ekta Nagar. Through the Miyawaki method, a forest can be developed in just two to three years.
