Israel-Hamas Conflict: Indian-Origin Soldier Halel Solomon Killed

Amid Israel-Hamas Conflict, at least 15 soldiers were killed in fighting inside the Gaza Strip on Nov 01. The troops who were there to eliminate the Hamas terror group laid their lives during the ground invasion. Israeli forces continued to attack targets by land and air overnight killing dozens of members of the terror group. Among 15 soldiers, an Indian-origin soldier, Staff SGT. Halel Solomon was also killed in Hamas attack. 20-year-old Halel Solomon, a resident of Israel’s Dimona, was from Givati Infantry Brigade’s Tzabar Battalion. The incident took place when a Namer armored personnel carrier they were in was hit by an anti-tank guided missile. The casualty toll underlined the threats soldiers are facing after weeks of punishing air campaign. Israeli tanks have been active inside Gaza for at least four days following Hamas’ attack on October 7. At least 8,525 people have been killed in Israeli attacks since Oct 7, said Gaza health authorities.

BMC to implement gap between COVID-19 vaccine doses in 2-3 days

With the central government directing the state to increase the gap between two doses of the Covishield vaccine, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that the same would be implemented within the next two to three days. Senior citizens who have taken the first dose in the first week of March would have to take the second one in the third or fourth week of April. The first consignment of the Covishield Vaccine arrived in Mumbai from Pune around 5.30 am on 13th January, confirmed Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officials. The BMC received a total of 1,39,500 doses of the vaccine from the Serum Institute of India in Pune.
