05 December,2021 09:14 PM ISTAfter facing the worst of coronavirus during the first and second waves, India has now administered over 120.96 crore of Covid-19 vaccine doses, claimed Union Health Ministry. On November 26, more than 65 lakh vaccine doses were administered till 7 pm. However, with a new heavily mutant novel coronavirus variant B.1.1.529 reported in South Africa, Hong Kong and Botswana triggering alarms in India, the country's top health experts have urged for stringent surveillance at the government level. 27 November,2021 11:33 AM ISTOn October 22, Maharashtra government decided to ease restrictions for malls, theatres, restaurants and other public places, inspite of that the state is registering a continual decline in fresh Covid-19 cases in the recent past. However, health minister Rajesh Tope on November 24, said that Maharashtra could witness the third wave of coronavirus in December but its impact will be a mild. However, a day before Tope's assertions the Centre chided the state for a drastic fall in the testing rates - from 2.69 lakhs per day in May to barely 98,000 now in November. On October 26, Maharashtra fully vaccinated 3 crore citizens. The situation further improved over the past seven days with a number of cases and fatalities coming down across the state.
