The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) yesterday claimed that it had sold 20,000 tickets to general public for Wednesday's India-Netherlands match at the Feroz Shah Kotla here.
The move came following the Delhi High Court's decision to limit complimentary passes to just 10,000.
"After what happened in Bangalore, and also after the High Court ruling, the process of the ticket allocation had to be changed drastically. No other state association in the country has given away so many tickets for the general public for this World Cup," DDCA Secretary SP Bansal told MiD DAY.
"We haven't faced any problems so far. About 5,000 tickets were sold through the official website, and about 15,000 through Bank of Maharashtra. Most of those tickets are already allotted.
"Technically, all seats are already sold out. As expected, it will be a packed house. The High Court had also ordered us to keep 3,000 passes (hospitality boxes) at the stadium. We followed all the orders received from High Court," he added.
