And Pietersen thinks neither team has a real advantage over the other after Day One. Speaking on BT Sport, Pietersen said: "I think it's evenly poised. I heard Vince say he reckons it's 50-50 at the moment and I think that's about fair. "You get defined as a player when you're playing Ashes cricket and you get defined as a player with the risks that you take."
