Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim will not be able to appear for his final year (Masters degree) examinations.
Reason: The dates of Bangladesh’s tour to Pakistan that begins on April 29, are clashing with his exams. “With the confirmation of Bangladesh tour to Pakistan, my son will not be able to appear for his final year examination now. The exams are scheduled to start today (April 16) and end on May 8,” Mushfiqur’s father Mahmub Hamid said from Dhaka yesterday.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is scheduled to host the tour’s only ODI and T20I on April 29 and 30 respectively. Both matches will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. u00a0“As a last resort, we will request the University to allow him to prepare and appear for the examination sometime later this year. His favourite subject is history and we hope he completes his education,” Hamid added.
Ironically, this is not the first time Mushfiqur will be missing out on an examination. “During a series against Australia, he had to miss his exams and appear for them after the tour,” said Hamid. Meanwhile, Prof Shariff Enamul Kabir, vice-chancellor of the Jahangirnagar University where Mushfiqur is enrolled, has assured the batsman his full support.u00a0
