"Bob Bell will attend all the remaining races of the season and will be the team's spokesperson on all sporting and technical matters," the team said in a statement.
"The Renault F1 Team is now ready to concentrate on the future and wishes to stress that no further comments or statements will be issued relating to the events of Singapore 2008."
Briatore and chief engineer Pat Symonds were behind one of the biggest scandals to ever hit the sport when they conspired with former driver Nelson Piquet junior to cause a deliberate crash in last year's Singapore Grand Prix.
The International Automobile Federation handed Briatore an "unlimited" ban from the sport while Symonds was suspended for five years.
Piquet, having acted as whistleblower, was given immunity although his reputation is in tatters.
Renault was punished with a two-year suspended ban.
While Bell becomes Renault's stand-in team principal, Jean-Francois Caubet, currently director of marketing and communications, takes on the position of managing director, the team said.
Both will report to Renault F1 president Bernard Rey.
