The 39-year-old all-rounder developed the eponymously named "Dilscoop" for the 2009 ICC World Twenty20.
Tillakaratne Dilshan
Dilshan has 17 centuries in ODIs and is only second to Sanath Jayasuriya, who has scored more tons (28) in ODIs, than any other Sri Lankan.
He is also only one of four Sri Lankan batsmen to score over 10000 ODI runs.
Once he announced his decision to hang up his boots from the 50-over format of the game, Twitter immediately reacted with sadness.
HERE'S HOW TWITTERATI REACTED TO DILSHAN'S RETIREMENT:
Hope Dilshan plays his savage pull and a dilscoop for us to remember him by - not that we need any help, tbh. Wonderfully memorable career

Tilakaratne Dilshan set the bar for guys like Brendan McCullum to follow in ODI cricket with shot innovation. Think about that for a minute
