Australia's emerging star paceman Pat Cummins has been diagnosed with an early stage stress fracture in his lower back, effectively ruling him out of the season, officials said yesterday.
Cummins, who was not named for the upcoming first Test against South Africa, developed a back soreness during the Twenty20 Champions League in South Africa which his Sydney Sixers ultimately won.
Because of his history of injury, officials elected to investigate the matter and yesterday advised that Cummins has been diagnosed with a bone stress injury of the lower back.
