Sydney: Australian explosive opener David Warner has been ruled out of the next month's tour of Bangladesh after failing to recover from the thumb injury sustained during the second ODI of the ongoing series against England.

The 28-year-old vice-captain retired immediately after suffering the broken thumb when he was hit by a bouncer off Steven Finn's delivery at Lord's in his left hand. He was consequently ruled out of the rest of the ODI series in England.

However, Warner does not require surgery on the thumb and is expected to be back for the home series against New Zealand in November.

'It's really disappointing. I never want to miss a match for Australia but I'll be doing everything I possibly can to get back as quickly as possible,' Warner was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.

Australia will play the first Test in Chittagong from October 9 to 13, while the second in Mirpur from October 17 to 21.
