To lead country on the Zimbabwe tour in absence of regular captain Sangakkara, Jayasuriya, Jayawardene, Muralitharan, Malinga rested

Tillakaratne Dilshan will lead Sri Lanka in the forthcoming tri-series in Zimbabwe, also involving India, after regular skipper Kumar Sangakkara was rested for the tournament.
Apart from Sangakkara, senior batsman Mahela Jayawardene, veteran Sanath Jayasuriya, who had a torrid Twenty20 World Cup, and pacer Lasith Malinga have also been rested for the series. All-rounder Angelo Mathews will be Dilshan's deputy for the series, according to the team list released in the Sri Lanka Cricket website.
Spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan, who returned home midway through the Twenty20 World Cup due to a groin injury, has also been ignored for the series.
Unheralded all-rounder Jeewan Mendis is the only new face in the side which also saw the return of left-handed batsman Lahiru Thirimanne, opener Upul Tharanga, middle-order batsmen Chamara Silva, Thilan Samaraweera and fast bowler Dilhara Fernando.
The tri-series begins in Bulawayo on May 28 with India taking hosts Zimbabwe in the opener.
