Gopinath Munde, senior Bhartiya Janata Party leader, is likely to appeal against his disqualification from the October 18 polls of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).
Munde, who was the first to file his nomination for the president’s post, was on Saturday disqualified from contesting the elections as he is not a permanent resident of Mumbai. Munde’s registered address is Beed.

The same was brought to MCA’s notice by Vile Parle Sports Club. “I am going to appeal to the president of the Association today. My lawyer will go on behalf of me. I am surprised that my form was rejected.
Mr Sharad Pawar was the president for 10 years (2001 to 2011) having his permanent address as Baramati. Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh also headed the MCA with Latur as his permanent address. Nobody objected then. So why was only my form rejected? This is injustice to me,” Munde told MiD DAY.
Munde added: “I have enough proof to prove that I am a permanent resident of Mumbai. The address on my passport mentions Mumbai. My Pan Card is also issued from Mumbai. I file my income tax returns in Mumbai. I think these are enough documents to suggest that I reside in this city.”
