Dream come true for Aakash Chopra

The Rajasthan Cricket Association was quick to call for celebrations after their team put Mumbai out of the Ranji Trophy in Jaipur yesterday.

When MiD DAY spoke to former India opener Aakash Chopra, who made a shift from Delhi this season, he was at a team celebration held in a five-star Jaipur hotel. "The celebrations are not too loud, but there is a great deal of satisfaction after what we have achieved today," said Chopra.

The team was unwinding, not only after the first innings win over the 39-time champions, but also after, what Chopra called, "the many battles within the battle."

Rajasthan meet former champions Tamil Nadu (Jan 3-6) in the semis and they are realistic about their challenge.

"Yes, we have beaten Mumbai and it feels great considering Rajasthan was in the Plate Division last year. Also, we have never defeated Mumbai so this win means a lot to us; it's a dream come true. But at the same time, we know that there is a lot of cricket left in this season and we will focus well," said Chopra.
