England fast bowler Tim Bresnan will miss the Test series against Sri Lanka after he tore his calf muscle.
Bresnan played an important role in England's Ashes triumph last year picking up 11 wickets from two Ashes Tests.
The Daily Telegraph reported that Bresnan was struggling with the problem in the last few World Cup games in Sri Lanka. He was back to county action soon but got injured after bowling just 32 overs in the Championship and seven in the CB40.
Bresnan's injury, especially if his rehab is prolonged, might just allow Andy Flower to see if his rotation policy for bowlers is really workable.
Stuart Broad is back from his injury and that would have kept Bresnan away from next week's XI anyway.
Next week's Test would begin with the favourites Broad, James Anderson and Chris Tremlett.
