Wayne Rooney was one of the players who was trolled on Twitter after England's loss to Italy in their World Cup opener on Saturday. The left, right and centre slamming from England fans prompted the Manchester United star's wife Coleen to get into the act of defending her man.
It began when Coleen posted a picture of Wayne with their children to celebrate Father's Day. She wrote: "We love our daddy!! Happy Father's day @WayneRooney. We're so proud of you."
Following this tweet, a fan wrote: "@ColeenRoo what for doing nothing in every big game he plays your husbands 1 big extremely ugly joke iv done better looking s****."
Coleen replied: "For being there dad d***head!!"
The aggrieved England fans kept posting more abuse to Rooney's wife. One fan even suggested that he should announce his retirement. "If that was his best he should pack the game up. #rooneyoverrated," tweeted a fan.
Coleen quickly replied: "You take his place then!! Let's see how you get on!! ???"
Yesterday, Coleen was pictured with 15 pieces of luggage as she flew out to Brazil to support her husband, reported Mirror.co.uk.
