The Champions League T20 tournament, which is hosted in September every year, has never been able to find too many takers, be it sponsorship or viewership.
The BCCI top brass have a few options which are going to be tabled at the GC for the members to take a note and decide the way forward. "Whether to carry on with existing format or do away with tournament or have a mini-IPL for a short duration are some of the issues that will be discussed at the meeting. With Indian team coming back from their Test tour of Sri Lanka by September 1 which effectively means that entire month's window is there before South Africa come calling in October," a GC member told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
Another issue that might be raised is about the alleged valuation of CSK at Rs 5 lakh after India Cements proposed a transfer of control of the franchise to a trust.
The issue was raised at the first GC meeting of the new regime back in April and the issue was raised by a senior politician and finance committee member.
The BCCI had then said that they would seek legal opinion regarding the matter.
