Chauhan, who claimed 47 wickets in Tests from 1993 to 1998, is disturbed that no one from the MP Cricket Association personally invited him for the match. "I received an invitation through email to attend the Test. No one spoke to me over the phone regarding the Test. Aaj kal aisa hi chal raha hai sab — aana hai to aaiye. Kya karenge ab (these days this is the way things work. If you want to come, then come. What to do?). I am staying in Bhilai, so let’s see whether it will be possible for me to attend," Chauhan told mid-day.
However, Chauhan said it is a huge achievement for the state to have a Test venue.
“It’s good that the Central Zone has got a new Test venue. A Test venue has a different image in cricket and it will create an impact on youngsters. Budding players will also think that one day they too can represent their country on this very ground,” the 49-year-old added.
