Paul, the octopus shot to international fame, when he began to accurately predict match results during Euro 2008 and World Cup of 2010. He unfortunately died that very year, but predictions then became synonymous with Paul the Octopus.

Today's Google Doodle is dedicated to the first match of the evening between Belgium and Algeria. The doodle shows the angel Paul, trying to predict a winner between the two teams while the name 'Google' rests on either side of the octopus.

Belgium take on Algeria in the first game of Group H at 9.30 PM IST at the Estadio Mineirao, Belo Horizonte.
