Vijay was unable to take field as skipper Virat sent Lokesh Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan to open the innings after being put into bat in the three-day game here yesterday.

Indians ended the day on 314 for six in 79 overs with Ajinkya Rahane unbeaten on 109, but Vijay never came out to bat.
