The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has named the north-end of the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium at Uppal after VVS Laxman, who announced his retirement from international cricket last week
The north-end has been named as VVS Laxman Pavilion in recognition of the wristy batsman’s services. The board was put up yesterday, the first day of the first cricket test between India and New Zealand.

Laxman at a news conference last Saturday announced his retirement though he was selected for the series against New Zealand. At the same news conference, HCA secretary MV Sridhar had declared that the north-end would be named after the Hyderabadi batsman.
The HCA also plans to install a statue of Laxman, who plans to play for Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy.
