Argentina striker Sergio Aguero claimed on Wednesday that he had completed his ufffd38 million ($62m) transfer to Manchester City, although the English Premier League club had yet to confirm the deal.
"I'm now a City player. Happy to be in this club and this city. Thanks to all for the welcome and the reception," Aguero wrote on his Twitter account.
The 23-year-old Atletico Madrid star, who is the son-in-law of Argentina legend Diego Maradona, earlier underwent a medical in the city. Aguero could possibly make a surprise debut in this weekend's Dublin Super Cup once his transfer has been confirmed.
The club have named 27 players in their squad for the matches against an Airtricity League XI and Inter Milan.
City have also tantalisingly left one space open and it is among their strikers, with the list published on the club's website stating "plus one other" after naming forwards Mario Balotelli, Edin Dzeko, John Guidetti and Andrea Mancini.
