The 23-year-old forward, who is married to Maradona's daughter Giannina, signed for City during the summer, after a fee believed to be around ufffd35 million had been agreed with Atletico Madrid.
He has already started showcasing a return on investment, having scored six goals in four matches for the club including Saturday's hat-trick in Man City's 3-0 victory over Wigan.
Now he has outlined his ambition, as he is quoted by The Mirror as saying: "I hope I can help Manchester City do great things like Diego did with Napoli.
I'm coming here to help the team develop and win titles and if we can do that this year, it will be perfect. But we'll keep on trying to get better and better and I hope to play a big part in that."
City have had a perfect start to their Premier League campaign, winning all four of their fixtures so far. They are currently placed second in the standings, behind their arch-rivals Manchester United due to an inferior goal difference.
The Eastlands club will also play their first ever game in the Champions League, when they lock horns with Napoli at home on Wednesday. "I played with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League and we had a good campaign.
"With City, we're looking to go as far as we can, but now we're just concentrating on the group stage."
