Chappell, who was stunned to discover that a couple of the Indian selectors were in Australia, said on television here: "I cannot believe some of the selectors have been in Australia and we didn't see any changes to the batting line-up."
Chappell raised the role of the 'wise men' when asked if Virat Kohli should have batted at No 3 in the second innings of the Adelaide Test.
He was quick to state that the young gun should have batted at one-drop even in the first innings. Chappell asked: "The role of the selectors is to oversee the performance of the team and make changes accordingly.
The Indian selectors don't want to change the team, the batting order so what is their role?"
According to Chappell, the only good thing the selectors did was to persist with Kohli in the playing XI but overall he was disappointed with their performance.
"If there was a case of not having the players to replace the older ones then I could understand. In this instance, that is not the case. Players like Rohit Sharma are ready, but not given a go," he added.
