A top-notch bowling effort by India colts helped them edge past Sri Lanka by five runs in the final of the U-19 quadrangular ODI tournament here at the YSR Reddy Stadium yesterday.
In pursuit of 169, Lanka were bowled out for 163 in 46.5 overs as seamers Sandeep Sharma (4-23) and Rush Kalaria (3-34) shared the bulk of the spoils while spinners Vikas Mishra and Baba Aparajith took a wicket apiece.
Sri Lanka were reduced to 27-5 until Duleeka Thissakuttige and Lahiru Madushankau00a0-- who scored 63u00a0-- added 75 runs for the sixth wicket to bring them desperately close to the finishing line.
India, who had topped the league stage, recovered from 37-5 to finish with 168 thanks to Akshdeep Nath's 55. For Lanka, Madushanka took four wickets. In the third place play-off, West Indies beat Australia by 16 runs.
