Skipper Rushabh Pandit's unbeaten 130 helped Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College (Ghatkopar) to clinch the junior inter-collegiate cricket tournament after almost two decades.
The Ghatkopar outfit defeated Bandra's Rizvi College by virtue of their first innings lead at the Parsee Gymkhana yesterday.
On Day One, Jaydip Pardesi (2-20), Sagar Mishra (2-28) and Jaykumar Nayak (2-47) helped Jhunjhunwala bowl out Rizvi for a paltry 204 in 63.1 overs.
After losing three wickets for just 26 runs in the morning session on Day Two, Pandit (130) and Yashraj Waghela (67) steadied Jhunjhunwala's innings and helped post 220 runs before the match was decided on the first innings.
"We didn't have big names in our team but we had good team spirit. The close bond between us helped us to clinch the title," said Pandit after the match.
