But for Trott, his coach's words are all that matter to him. "People are entitled to their own judgment, I have no issues with that. As long as I'm effective, and put in the hard yards with Andy Flower, nothing else matters.
What he tells me as a coach is more valuable than what anyone else has to say, doesn't matter who it is," Trott told reporters here at Chepauk yesterday.
England are gearing up for a do-or-die game against the West Indies tomorrow.
Captain Andrew Strauss and Graeme Swann pulled out of yesterday's practice session owing to stomach bugs, but Trott allayed concerns. "They are two very key players and would make it to anybody's team. I am confident they will be fit in time. These things tend to stretch for just 24 to 48 hours," Trott said.
"I am glad it's happened now, and not on the eve of the game. Chennai is a hot and humid place, when you go from humid places into air conditioned rooms, it's important to look after ourselves," he said.
