Returning fast bowler Kamran Khan, though giving it his all for the visiting camp, gave the capacity crowd here a big scare when he slipped during his follow-through during the early stages of the game.

It was the sort of slide that could have easily caused a freak accident. The typically vibrant crowd here at Chinnaswamy Stadium gave the 20-year old from Azamgarh a huge roar as he got back to his feet. Kamran has been out of the competition since his battles with a suspicious action began in the last season, while representing the Rajasthan Royals.

Just like his former Royals teammate Shaun Tait, the young left-armer perennially faces problems with hitting the radar on a consistent basis, his performance yesterday evening indicated the lack of match-practice.

He was hit out of the attack, conceding 47 runs from three overs, with Chris Gayle taking 20 runs off his first over. Former Zimbabwe quicke Pommie Mbangwa felt that captains expect that from unorthodox bowlers. "That's why Lasith Malinga is such a great bowler, because despite being orthodox, he is right on the money with his line. I have seen Khan bowl some great spells in South Africa and Pune must know that he is capable of producing a great spell sometime later this season," he told MiD DAY.
