The Chennai Police has issued fresh summons to Indian Premier League's (IPL) former chairman Lalit Modi to appear in person on a criminal complaint lodged by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Later, when Modi was discussing the player retention issue of the IPL, a surfer said: "I'm a die-hard Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fan, but I do agree with some of your points about N Srinivasan and now its pathetic to see IPL without a strong leader." Srinivasan owns CSK.

Modi replied: "CSK is a great team. It's not their fault. I am just concerned about level playing field. Its owner is the issue."

Meanwhile, fresh summons have been issued asking Modi to appear in person before the Central Crime Branch (CCB) on any one of the following dates ufffd January 25, 27 and 28 ufffd and clarify his position, Police Commissioner T Rajendran told reporters in Chennai

The fresh summons come after the one issued on December 27 last year was returned as refused. According to Rajendran, police will move the court if the summons are not obeyed.

Last week Rajendran said that some losses seem to have been incurred by BCCI in the matter of award of media rights and free commercial air time. BCCI secretary Srinivasan had lodged a criminal complaint against Modi last October alleging misappropriation of funds to the tune of around Rs 469 crore.
