The Managing Committee of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) yesterday decided to form a one-man committee of Dilip Vengsarkar, former India skipper and MCA vice-president, to look into Wankhede curator Sudhir Naik’s allegation that Team India Director Ravi Shastri abused him during the fifth and final India vs South Africa ODI on Sunday.

“Our president Sharad Pawarji decided to entrust Dilip Vengsarkar to solve the issue between Naik and Shastri. He (Vengsarkar) will brief the Managing Committee on November 5 about the issue. Both (Naik and Shastri) are senior and respected cricketers of Mumbai. We will try to solve the matter amicably,” MCA vice-president Ashish Shelar said.
Naik fired off a letter to the MCA about Shastri and India bowling coach Bharat Arun, who allegedly harassed Naik’s assistant Ramesh Mhamunkar for not heeding the team’s instructions.

Vengsarkar will seek a meeting between Shastri and Naik before the first Test in Mohali or at the completion of the Test. Meanwhile, Vengsarkar confirmed the Mumbai T20 league is on the cards.
“It should happen. We just have to look into the legal proceedings and other formalities before going ahead. Given the time we have, I am confident it will take place,” Vengsarkar said. The Managing Committee has asked to float tenders in connection with the league.
