With the restructured Dr HD Kanga Cricket League all set to kick off from September 7 across the city's maidans, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is yet to distribute entry forms to 98 clubs that will participate in the tournament
The MCA has already released the schedule without receiving any entries. Going by the MCA rulebook for Kanga League, “any club/gymkhana desirous of participating in Dr HD Kanga Cricket League (Elite Group) shall fill the entry form.

The entry forms will be made available and it shall be the sole responsibility of the clubs/gymkhanas to ensure that the same reached the office of MCA within the stipulated time period. Acceptance of entry form does not automatically make the club/gymkhana eligible to play in the League.”
A club member said: “Every year MCA would send the entry form at least two months in advance. It is shocking that the draw has been finalised without calling for entries. What if a particular team does not want to play this season?”
For some club members, it is just another process. “It is a mere formality. Most of the teams are the same (from last season). There are changes only in the teams that are relegated and promoted.”u00a0MCA Joint Honorary Secretary Dr PV Shetty, who is the convener for the Kanga League, said the entry forms would be distributed to all clubs today.
“We have called for a Knotty Point meeting tomorrow (September 3). We will give the forms then. This year it (sending entry forms) got delayed, as we were busy with the restructuring of our tournaments,” said Shetty.
