Mahendra Singh Dhoni, may be the former skipper of Team India, but he's still 'Captain Cool'. After proving it travelling in a train after 13 long years along with his Jharkhand boys for the Vijay Hazare Trophy tourney in Kolkata, Mahi has once again done it with a gesture that's sweet, thoughtful and heartwarming, all at the same time.
Dhoni is a global sports icon, but that doesn't mean he has forgotten his old friends from the good ol' days.
The 35-year-old cricketer, who has a lot more time on hand now that he's not that active on the international circuit, is in Kolkata to lead the Jharkhand team in the domestic one-day tournament. While celebrating a win in the team dressing room, he came across a familiar face.
Who was it?
It was Thomas, the 'chaiwala' who used to served MSD tea during his stint as a ticket collector at the Kharagpur station in West Bengal. Thomas had apparently travelled all the way to the West bengal capital to see and if possible meet his 'friend'.
MS Dhoni having a cup of tea
Not only did Dhoni recognise Thomas, despite the long gap. MSD then invited Thomas to the team hotel for dinner. Touched by Dhoni's gesture, Thomas has now renamed his stall as the 'Dhoni Tea Stall'.
And this gesture while heartwarming, proves that Dhoni may have earned millions, but he's still as grounded as the day he started out in cricket.
Twitter was touched by this story and praised Dhoni for being humble and down to earth.
