The news comes amid reports in Argentina that Barca are not impressed Messi had to fly for 27 hours for the friendly he never played in.
A statement on the Catalans' website read: "The injury does not appear to be serious, but we must wait for test to be conducted in Barcelona to determine the definitive diagnosis." Barcelona travel to Villareal on Sunday.
