Diego Maradona has told Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti he made a wise choice by appointing "the best" coach in Jose Mourinho.
During a visit to their training ground, Maradona, himself now experiencing coaching as the boss of Argentina, revealed his admiration for the set-up at Inter, where former Chelsea manager Mourinho took over last summer from the triple Scudetto winner Roberto Mancini.
Good choice
He told the Inter Channel: "Moratti is a fine man and has led Inter to top. Then this summer he hired Mourinho, the coach who without doubt I would have taken if I had been chairman.
"It was the best possible appointment and I told Moratti when I had the chance.
"Jose has everything u2014 he can speak to the players, the press, the locker room. For me, he is the best."
Maradona, who attained legendary status during his time at Napoli, added that he would like Argentina star Lionel Messi to eclipse even his own achievements.
He said: "I would like Leo to become even more powerful than me, for everybody Argentinian football, the national team and then also for me as a coach.
"So I don't want Messi to become the new Maradona, but better than Maradona."
