Mumbai Indians

SACHIN TENDULKAR: On the back of an unbeaten 200 in the ODI against South Africa, Tendulkar enters the IPL as one of the most in-form batsmen and will have to continue his rich vein of form if Mumbai are to do well in IPL III.

SANATH JAYASURIYA: He can be explosive against any opposition and will enjoy Indian conditions. His quick left-arm spin bowling will also be very useful.

LASITH MALINGA: Has the ability to bowl Yorkers almost at will and generates good pace with his slinging action. One of the key players of the side.

ABHISHEK NAYAR: Impressed with his big hitting in both editions of the IPL and will be looking to improve on those performances. He is also a capable medium pace bowler.

ZAHEER KHAN: His experience makes him the spearhead of the attack. Reads the situation well and has the ability to come up with match-winning spells.

HARBHAJAN SINGH: Spinners have a role in T20 and Harbhajan will have to play an important one in the team's success. Can also tonk the ball around for some quick runs.

SHIKHAR DHAWAN: An aggressive left-handed batsman, Dhawan has not done justice to his talent. He will be looking to improve on the few good performances he's had for the team so far.

DWAYNE BRAVO: A very valuable player for the side possessing the ability to win a match with bat and ball. Does not have genuine pace but his variation make his a very difficult bowler to score freely off.

KIERON POLLARD: One of the biggest hitters of the ball, he made his name in the Champions League T20 and was the most sought-after playing in this year's IPL auction. Variety in his bowling is also a huge advantage.

DHAWAL KULKARNI: A quality medium pacer who is a regular in Mumbai's first-class team, Kulkarni has the ability to do well in T20s but could struggle to break in to the side on a regular basis.

ALI MURTAZA: A shrewd left-arm spinner with a good head on his shoulders, Murtaza was easily the most successful spinner in the two seasons of the unrecognized Indian Cricket League (ICL).

DILHARA FERNANDO: The strapping quick bowler from Sri Lanka is fit and raring to go in the forthcoming season of IPL. He is one of the few bowlers who have the ability to extract bounce from flat pitches in the subcontinent but it is reported that his back injury may prevent him from playing.

AMBATI RAYADU: The 24-year old from Hyderabad has gained bags of Twenty20 experience. He is expected to be more than a handful when turning out for the Mumbai Indians this season.
