Dhaka: Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim praised his players' character after they turned the game around completely after tea.
"It's a great moment for Bangladesh cricket," he said.
"The boys really showed their character at 100 for none. We had the belief that if we get one wicket at least, then on that track you never know with the new batter."
Teenage spinner Mehedi Hasan was named man of the series after claiming 19 wickets across the two Tests, including 12 in Dhaka.
"We didn't believe that in this series he would shine like this," Mushfiqur said of the debutant. It is only the beginning. Hopefully in the future he will be a great all-rounder for Bangladesh."
Bangladesh had not played a Test match for 15 months previous to this series and Mushfiqur hopes the results against England will lead to more games in the longest format. "We are getting in there but hopefully if we play more Tests I think there will be more good results coming," he said.
"Hopefully the ICC and the boards will send us a couple of series against the big boys."
