NBA legend AC Green to visit Mumbai
The basketball fraternity of the city is set to get a major boost on April 8 as NBA legend AC Green will inaugurate the refurbished basketball court at Nagpada Neighbourhood House and will hold coaching and youth clinics during his visit.
The court, developed in conjunction with the Basketball Federation of India, Hewlett Packard and Tata Consultancy Services, is the first of many courts the NBA will develop throughout India as part of its long-term commitment to boost basketball participation and promote healthy, active lifestyles through NBA Cares, the League's social responsibility program.u00a0
According to a joint statement, the NBA and BFI continue to work closely to identify opportunities to implement and develop training programs for children and coaches.
As a follow-up to the last year's Junior NBA/Junior WNBA Hoop School programme and in addition to the clinics in Mumbai, Green will also travel to Bangalore to lead clinics at Mary Immaculate School. The Bangalore school was the winner of the girls division of the first ever Junior NBA/Junior WNBA Hoop School tournament, held in December 2008.
