Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi, teaming up with different partners, advanced to the second round of the ATP clay court event here after getting first-round byes.

Paes and his Czech partner Lukas Dlouhy have been seeded third, while Bhupathi and his Bahamian teammate Mark Knowles have been seeded fourth at the euro 1,995,000 event.

Paes and Dlouhy will next take on the winners of the match between the Swede-South African pairing of Simon Aspelin and Wesley Moodie and Spanish wildcards Marc Lopez and Fernando Vicente.

Bhupathi and Knowles will be up against the winners of the match between Spaniards Feliciano Lopez and Fernando Verdasco and Swedes Robert Lindstedt and Robin Soderling.
