Pollard can't wait to have his first IPL IV hit

Kieron Pollard tellsu00a0MiDu00a0DAY that he can't wait for his first hit inu00a0IPL IVu00a0against Kochi today

He has contributed with the ball ufffd 0-18 against Delhi Daredevils and 2-25 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The way Pollard batted in the nets on the eve of today's match, the Mumbai crowd can expect a royal treat from the Mumbai Indians dasher as the team braces up for its first home game of the season against Kochi Tuskers Kerala at the Wankhede Stadium. Pollard, who batted in the nets for nearly two hours, hit high into the stands and also managed to despatch a few out of the ground with ease. Pollard, one of the players retained by the Mumbai Indians, is obviously 'raring to go', but doesn't mind waiting if the team's top order keeps finishing it off like in previous matches. MiD DAY caught up with him for an exclusive chat after a practice session yesterday.

Excerpts:

From what we saw in the nets, you must be itching to play your big shots today?
Yes, I am raring to go in the IPL. I am looking forward to doing well for Mumbai Indians and help continue the
momentum we have got.
u00a0
Are you frustrated about not getting a chance to bat in the tournament so far?
(Smiles) The guys have been doing well so far, so hopefully they will continue the good work. I have no problem in not getting a chance (to bat) as long as the team is winning. That is important to me. I am backing myself to do my best whenever needed. Having said that, we have to keep the momentum going.
u00a0
You had a quiet World Cup with the bat. Are you itching to play your natural game?
The World Cup is over and I am here playing in the IPL. It is just a matter of doing well in my little way. Whenever I am needed, I can hopefully go out there and do the job for Mumbai Indians.
u00a0
How do you view the contest against Kochi Tuskers?
We look at it as just another game of cricket. It is a home game so we will get crowd support. We have done well in our away games so far. As I said, we are looking forward to keeping the momentum going.

Will we see Pollard free his arms today?
It is not a matter of just freeing my hands. It is important for me to do what is needed for my team at that moment.

I will play according to my role, play each ball on merit and contribute to the team's cause.
