Former India opener WV Raman, who coached the Bengal side before moving to Tamil Nadu this season, was pleased with Mohammed Shami's performance yesterday.
“I noticed that he stuck to a wicket-to-wicket line and that helped him. He was not trying anything fancy on a pitch that had little for bowlers and succeeded due to his discipline,” said Raman.

Shami grew in his role as Bengal’s leading bowler in the Ranji Trophy under Raman’s watch and the latter hopes he will continue to evolve as a bowler.
“He must continue focussing on his fitness, and I am sure he will keep improving in the months ahead,” he said.u00a0
