Former England paceman Small told Press Association Sport: "Flintoff is one of the few guys in cricket who, when performing, the rest of the team hang onto his coat tails and get dragged along with him. People go on about Fred not taking lots of wickets but batsmen know what a threat he is.
"When he bowls, the ball hits the bat hard and vibrates in your hand. He's hard to get away. It's up to the England boys to put their hand up and be the next Flintoff."
